Watercolor and Gouache
A tribute to my favorite houseplant, the Monstera Deliciosa, this painting is a fresh take on the genre of botanical watercolors. Amongst the shapes of large tropical leaves, there are fine abstract details made with the intention that they look like whimsical painterly strokes. The result is a celebration of nature's shape and color, and a nod to her imperfect beauty.
Custom framed in a thin, warm brown walnut hardwood. The painting is on Arches watercolor paper, which is adhered to a wood panel with acid-free glue. The paper edges have torn and raw deckled edges. I use a matte spray varnish for protection against light and dust.
